Replacing Blower Unit – DIY or Professional?

My ATU blower unit is making a strange noise and my contractor says it needs replacement soon. He quoted me $1,500 for labor + parts. I’m handy and have done plumbing work before. Is this something a homeowner can tackle, or should I leave it to the professionals? What’s involved in the replacement process?
