Failed Inspection Due to Biomat – What Now?

My septic inspection just came back and I failed due to “biomat development in drain field.” The inspector wants me to get it fixed within 30 days or face penalties. What is biomat exactly? How do I fix it? Do I need to replace the entire drain field? Very stressed about this – any advice appreciated.
